add pk protection to all codexes. these will only work if you do not retaliate.

parry
add spiked shields to the game. these can be poisoned. while the codex is being used, there is a level*2 chance the attacker will be poisoned. for ranged attackers and mages the chance is level*3.

magery
mana shield. your mana will be drained by level*7%.

taming
alpha male. the highest taming requirement pet, if it is level 15, has a level*2 chance it will automatically attack a pk. it will not give up until the pk is dead and chase it across the map with pathfinding.

animal lore
pick eyes. if you have tamed birds at level 15, they will auto retaliate and have a level*1% chance to darken the players screen until only a lantern will light it up, lasts 100*level seconds. only works for the lowest level birds, ie ones with around 25 starting health. it will also darken the automap and world map and remove popup titles from the pk.

musicianship
for every music skill, there is a level*1% chance it will automatically trigger either a peacemaking effect where every pk cannot attack for 5 seconds, a provocation effect where they will aggro an animal or player around, or a discord effect where half of the durability of a random item equipped will be diminished.

melee and archery
there is a level*3% chance you will actually automatically retaliate, but it will not put you on criminal timer and you do not get a murder count. if you move or use a chat function the effect will be canceled.

fishing
while fishing on a boat, there is a level*1.5% chance a random water creature will be summoned and attack the pk.

camping
a level*0.5% chance you will teleport to random town when a pk aggros you. level*0.25% chance if a monster attacks you.

begging
the pk will drop a random item worth level*100gp, or level*1 amount of a resource every 10-level seconds

stealing and snooping
same as begging but the item is placed in your backpack

hiding and stealth
a level*1% chance you will automatically hide, and you cannot be revealed with any skill or spell

magic resist
level*13, that is, 100% chance at level 7, that you will take 0 damage from any magic spell and neither be affected by any spell or summoned creature

spirit speak
when a pk dies from someone they have aggrod, there is a level*5 chance they cannot use any chat function in game, including using the bank, for level*4 hours

resource gathering skills
you will only lose 100%-level*5 of all your skills resources when you die

crafting skill
there is a level*0.02% chance you will craft a blessed and bound to player item, if it is exceptional and mastercrafted, and requires at least 90 crafting skill. only works for mules, ie, 720 points in crafting and resource gathering skills is needed, where each skill is at least level 90. also works for food and potions. this is only available if you craft in a non-protected dungeon.

necromancy
when dying from a pk, there is a level*2 chance you will be resurrected 50 tiles away in a random direction from them.

tracking
works as a bola in vanilla uo. level*5 chance the attacker will be dismounted for level*1 seconds, whenever they come into 5 tiles range.

chivalry
there is a level*0.5% chance the pk will get the title "the coward", including discord for level*0.5 days. if a pk gets this 10 times it will be a permanent effect.

arms lore
a level*1% chance a random item the pk has will lose durability, if the items is blessed a level*0.1% chance it will be destroyed.

cartography
when you get pkd there is a level*4% chance you will get the same level*1 items back in a treasure chest for the coming level*1 days. ie the items will be lost from the pk, and if it is anywhere else as well.

detect hidden
a player with an item that has been looted from your corpse will blink in black letters once, at a level*10 chance every 100/level seconds. this works for bank and rented room chests as well, and across their 3 accounts. you will get a level*5% discount from buying the item back from a vendor.

eval intelligence
using the skill on a player there is a level*2 chance it will show how many times they have been muted, and the total murder counts they have, even if the player is blue. also who they have killed, and which guild if applicable they belong to.

forensic eval
using the skill on your own corpse, there is a level*2% chance every level*1 minutes you will retrieve an item even if it is has been looted.

720 in combat skills including 120 arms lore, does not include magery
will show you what skills the other player has at a level*3 chance

meditation
there is a level*4 chance when a pk aggros you and comes into attack range they cannot damage you for level*0.5 seconds, but you cannot move either.

healing
a level*3 chance you will automatically use a bandage.

this is funny. so im rping on all my chars now. ive managed to achieve level 2 on my 5 eagles on 1 of my tamers.

some guy got pissed off that i attacked a troll he was fighting, so he aggros me. i freak out as usual, but at 10% health i do "all kill" on him. he manages to off 1 bird until he runs off to the wilds screaming about all the claw marks. eagles! level 2! against a high level char! this is what rping is about.

and its a nice game. lots of low level spawns all over the map. even in some towns. when i level 15 these bad boys and get bored ill do 25 hp birds. eagles have 3x more so they can handle at least 1 hit from auto aggroing baddies. i managed to kill several gazer larvas with them, even the tougher gazers as well. some bit the dust at level 0 but its cool :) an actual challenge.

dont yet have level 80, but a nice guy gave me both a barding and taming codex :)

I'm Seas. I did the "fashionable characters" screenies on well-dressed clothed chars in the nullties. I started playing around 2001-2002. I stopped playing UO and actually all computer games 2005, because I met Bella. Now the kids are adult and can take care of themselves, and I'm retired. Originally I couldn't play any online games because the free WIFI I used blocked gaming ports. Then I looked up html5 games and also javascript games, but eventually got tired of them. Tired, maybe? A guy called me a "bot" on a new game I played that I actually liked, that I had "multiple accounts", eventhough I was lvl 15, most others are 60 even over 100. Laughable. But then I remembered, Ultima Online? I had heard of free shards back in the days, and the one that popped up first on a google search was Outlands.

After quitting computers for 2½ weeks as an early new years promise, for this year, I sort of got tired of the plain ordinary life. It was fun and nourishing, but I'm a gamer at heart. One of my first memories is related to very primitive MUDs on mainframes.

Anyway, the hiatus made me re-think why I play computer games. So I'm refurbishing all my chars to be without mounts, not focusing on loot or items, and using more rp-friendly skills instead of max damage. Yesterday I tamed 5 eagles, and wouldn't you know, a PK tried killing me, succeeded, but then fled into the wilderness because my birds were gnawing him to bits!

That's what the "RPG" in MMORPG stands for. The MMO stands for "co-operation", so many people play online games almost all single-player. I used to do that in the nullties as well, barely got a friend to PVM with over severel years, but I was so shy back then. When I finally tried Felucca and got to share in a house, I got a Poison Wall on me and freaked out. I tried a year later and got combo-killed in a second. I cried so hard, mentioning on the forum, that the PK felt bad and gave me back my items, lol.

Anyway, the game isn't perfect, but what is. I'm an artist, musician and poet, among other things. So I get balancing ideas constantly. Lately I've thought about making an own shard just on my laptop and editing it however I like. I did that with diablo II when Blizzard eased the modding experience after awhile.
